Recently my wife worked on a photo shoot for about 3 hours. My family was down for Thanksgiving and she welcomed the additional models to use on
AG Photo Art and Photography. She was so pleased with her work as she looked back at it on her Nikon D40X. It was some of her best work to date. Everyone was excited to see it on the computer, and that is when she got the message that her 8GB SD card did not contain any images. She thought that she was going to have a heart attack. All that work was ruined, or so she thought.
I quickly tried to calm her down. I knew that the pictures were still on the disk. The computer just could not find the files. I downloaded a couple of disk recovery / photo recovery tools. All of them did a great job in finding the pictures. There was one problem with all of these so called
"FREE" tools. They all wanted me to pay upward of $40 to actually restore the pictures. It was back to square one, so I kept on searching the net for a program that was %100 free. Then I found it:
TestDisk and PhotoRec. With
PhotoRec I was able to restore all of the photos that my wife had just taken and the best part it was completely
FREE. The one downside to the program is that it is console based, but its pretty self-explanatory if you follow the onscreen prompts. All in all PhotoRec left me completely satisfied, my wallet was unaffected and best of all everyone was able to view the pictures that we had just spent so much time working on together.
